mpz - Centre of Music Pedagogy
Professional teacher education is unconceivable without a thorough, wide-ranging network combining theory and practice, without adequate training premises or well defined professional fields, not to mention policy making authorities. The Centre of Music Pedagogy that was started in 2001 as part of the Institute of Music Pedagogy is aspiring to compensate for these needs and is involving teachers operating in the field of general music education in a continuous long-term cooperation. It is meant to coordinate between the contents and the structural elements of teacher education.
The Centre of Music Pedagogy rests on three pillars:
Continuing Professional Development
- A range of events for music teachers should offer professional guidance at pedagogical and practical level with respect to various working and learning methods.
Projects interconnecting studies and profession
- Our objective is to particularly promote the opening of the school system for students and in return, make universities accessible to the teachers and pupils. For example: organising school visits with students for music teaching projects.
Cooperation with policy makers
Setting of initiatives to strengthen the common responsibility of different institutions concerned with teacher training for music education such as boards of education, ministries, different universities, pedagogic academies and institutes.
