Teaching Skills
The staffs of this special field form the direct tangible bridge that links this training course for music teachers to its professional context which is school. They provide teaching practice to the students including practical work in the field of “music teaching” and the stage-management for such courses. Apart from that, they are also characterized by a high degree of theoretical work (reflection and evaluation). The occasional experiences the students encounter will also have their impact on their further professional course and on their individual career profile as future teachers.
In this context, the TS-teachers also fulfil an important feed-back function through their reporting of experiences and insights gained from their work with university students: Cooperation with the teaching staff of the institute is a guarantee for a living exchange between university and schools.
The TS group is of central significance for the conceptual further development of this training course for music teachers and has its impact on the following main priorities:
- Active participation in defining the profile of “Music Teaching” as vocational field;
- It undergoes constant re-assessment through the connecting bridge between university and schools;
- It is a source of information at conferences and congresses on music teaching;
- It contributes to the development of concepts and to an up-to-date, innovative and dynamic activity in the field of music pedagogy.
